SPARKLE & BLING

How to add extra flash & bling to your Canada Red Mittens!
All you need is some diamond or crystal bling , some 'glow in the dark' fabric paint.
You can also add some neon specialty paints and white sparkle fabric paint as well.

HOW To MAKE  YOUR RED MITTENS GLOW in the DARK

To add extra flashing effect to  the white maple leaf in the palm of your red mittens, you can turn the leaf into a glow in the dark surprise. 
You will need the following: 
        - a very fine acrylic paint brush - 00 fine
        - small bottle of Glow in the Dark FABRIC Paint
        -glow in the dark paint comes in different colours, I recommend the green or purple
        - pair of maple leaf mittens (Of Course!)
All you need to do is give the maple leaf a couple of thin coats of the glow in the dark paint, the more coats you apply the more glow you get. You must be very careful NOT to let the paint get on the red knit part as the maple leaf shape will be lost in the overflow glow.  The paint dries in about 10 minutes and you are good to GLOW.

BLING YOUR RED MITTENS

To add a really flash strobe effect to your mitts, you will need crystals, diamonds or rhinestones in a bead form that can be sewn with a needle and thread to the very centre of the maple leaf. When you flash your leaf, the shiny little piece of bling will throw the light to whomever you wave. You can also use stick on or glue on crystals, but they will not stay on for as long as the sewn on kind.

RED MITTENS SPARKLE

It's the same as the Glow in the Dark method; you will need to get some white or iridescent white sparkle fabric paint and apply a very thin layer to JUST the maple leaf with no over flow to take away the shape. The sparkle paints will take a little longer to dry than the glow paint.
If you REALLY want to Pimp Your Mitts, then by all means do all 3 of the modifications to them. Apply the sparkle paint BEFORE the glow in the dark paint  and BEFORE the crystals. Both the glow particles and the bling crystals will be blocked if  covered with the sparkle paint.
